Myfanwy Gwenllian Newell spent two seasons with the D'Oyly Carte Principal Repertory Opera Company. From July 1909 until June 1910 she was a chorister whose only named part was Sacharissa in Princess Ida. During her second season she played the Plaintiff in Trial by Jury, Sacharissa, Fiametta in The Gondoliers, and Peep-Bo in The Mikado. She left the D'Oyly Carte during her second season, in March 1911.

In 1909, prior to joining the Company, she toured in The Dairymaids. Later she appeared in London in Orpheus in the Underworld (His Majesty's, 1911-1912) and in a single Boxing Day performance of a fairy fantasy The Magic Bell (London Opera House, 1912).
