Baritone Walter Olivant Wilkinson appeared on tour in America as Ben Barnacle in Stephens & Solomon's Billee Taylor with D'Oyly Carte's Second American Billee Taylor Company between April and August 1881. It was his only role with D'Oyly Carte.

By the mid-1880s Wilkinson was working as choirmaster and organist at the Church of the Redeemer, Long Island City, New York.
