Norman W. Wright (1969-71)

[Born Nuneaton, Warwickshire]

Tenor Norman Wilfred Wright joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus straight from college in September 1969. He married D'Oyly Carte principal contralto Christine Palmer in May 1970, and they both left the Company in April 1971.

Wright then sang with Scottish Opera, English National Opera, and at Glyndebourne before returning to study at the Royal Academy of Music. He later emigated to Australia, where he taught at the Melba Conservatorium of Music in Melbourne.

The Wrights returned to the United Kingdom in 1980. They presently live in Nuneaton, where Norman has an active singing teaching practice.
