No. 18 - Duet - Mickey and Mirabeau - "A regular parley voo."

MIDI File

Mickey: It's dreadfully hard to understand
The things you foreigners say,
Mirabeau: We mean, yes we do,
Just the same as you,
But it's put in a different way.
Both: Yes, put in a different way.
Mickey: Ould Ireland is my native land,
It's there I would like to be.
Mirabeau: Et moi! how I grieve when I have to leave
The shores of ma belle patrie.
Both: The shores of ma belle patrie.
Sing hey! for the lad who gets the chance
To learn about the ways of France,
For Mademoiselle can teach as well
As any one else could do,
And if she is only perseverin'
With this son of good old Erin,
She will begin to turn him into
A regular Parley voo.

Mickey: Supposing I met a dainty Miss,
I'd say as I'm saying to you,
"Just come for a walk
And a nice long talk,
Yes, arrah me darlint, do!"
Both: Yes, arrah me darlint, do!
Mirabeau: In France you would not behave like this
When ever you met your fate.
You'd cry Je vous aime,
For it means the same,
And start on a tête-à-tête.
Both: Yes, start on a tête-à-tête.
Sing hey! for the lad who gets the chance
To learn about the ways of France,
For Mademoiselle can teach as well
As any one else could do,
And if she is only perseverin'
With this son of good old Erin,
She will begin to turn him into
A regular Parley voo.
